What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching, unlike traditional therapy addresses the issues you are dealing with currently.  The primary focus in Life Coaching is to reveal those issues which appear to be blocking or distorting one’s life direction with clarity and success.  The issues may include domains of relationship, self-confidence, negative self assessment, patterns of guilt,  failure, blame, deceit, and obsessiveness… just to mention a few.

Life coaching supports you in revealing these self-defeating patterns and internal dialogues that exist in your story and allow you to break free of the blockages that keep you from having the life you want.

  • To become self-managed and organized.

What is the role of the Coach in the coach/client partnership?

The role of the coach is to provide an objective assessment of the client’s circumstances and challenges through the practice of astute listening skills. The coach is a sounding board in support of what is possible. The coach encourages a fresh perspective by fostering shifts in thinking.

Coaching is not about giving advice, but rather helping you find your strengths and the answers for yourself. Coaching begins with an interview with the client, and can be done in person, by telephone, or Skype. The coach assesses the goals, challenges, priorities and desired outcomes of the client. Subsequent coaching sessions are then scheduled to create an action plan; which includes periodic assessments and objective information for evaluating progress.

A life coach maintains professional boundaries and confidentiality.

What is the role of the client?

The client brings intention, the desire for change and the willingness to be responsible for his/her choices. As your life coach will ask you to participate in “homework” assignments that will enhance the process and broaden the perspectives of your desired outcome. Within the coaching process you will be asked to challenge your existing attitudes, beliefs and behaviors.

How long does a coach work with a client?

The length of a coaching partnership depends on the client’s needs and preferences. Factors that impact the length of time include, the results you want to achieve, the frequency of the coaching sessions to support your commitment to yourself and financial resources available.
